Wolf Children

Wolf Children

From Mamoru Hosoda, the creator of "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" And "Summer Wars" comes "Wolf Children", and today we're going to dissect this movie and find out if its something you should be picking up and watching yourself. Don't worry though, this is going to be a spoiler free review of the movie (with the exception of one at the beginning, which really isn't that much of a spoiler), so if you haven't watched it yet: feel free to stick around!

The story follows a young woman named Hana, a college student who meets a man one day, the two fall in love. One day, the man tells her his secret, he is one of a near extinct race of wolves who can become people. Soon after, the two have a little girl named Yuki, and one year later have a son named Ame. However soon after he is born the father dies in a car accident, leaving Hana to take care of her two children who are able to turn into wolves themselves.

This is the kind of story that really takes the opportunity to do everything with its concept and does it extremely well. It sets up all sorts of problems for the the main character very easily, What will she do if they get sick? How will she teach them to grow up? How will she take care of them? This is a movie that anyone who has ever felt overwhelmed with something can understand, especially parents. The movies pacing is also done pretty well, both times I watched this movie it felt like I was watching someones entire life, which you pretty much are. This movie is two hours long yet it feels like its been 10 years by the time your done, which normally is a bad thing, but it works really well for this movie. You grow attached to all the characters extremely easily and you get fully immersed in it easily.

Over all its just a really great movie and I recommend you give it a shot, buy it on blurry, its definetly with it.
