5 Manga Series I Recommend For Halloween
So, its that time of year for spooky scary skeletons to send shivers down your spine! And what better way to celebrate than to read a good Manga!?....Well...Probably a party- But I digress!
There are plenty of manga that would be perfect for this creepy time of year to read, and I'm gonna give you five recommendations!! Keep in mind that these are in no particular order, I've also made sure to make this list as diverse as I possibly can and they are only based on the manga that I have heard of/read. If you have any manga you'd recommend leave it in the comments. Lets get started!
SOUL EATER
This ones a classic to anime fans, and a must watch/read. Written by Atsushi Ōkubo, the story follows a group of meisters who use people who can turn into weapons to collect evil souls. Its got plenty of amazing imagery, reminiscent of a Gorillaz video. It of course has an anime adaptation with a great dub, great characters, an amazing villain, and a certain charm that keeps you coming back to it.MONSTER SOUL
Taking a bit of a brighter look into the spooky genre we have Monster Soul. Created, written and, illustrated by Hiro Mashima (writer and artist for Fairy Tail, Rave Master and, Monster Hunter Orage), Monster soul has a very light hearted and comedic mood like most of his other works but still doesn't shy away from the real meat! It follows the story of a group of elite monsters known as "The Black Airs" and their quest to keep the peace between humans and monsters. As usual the art style is great, the characters are memorable and an interesting lore and world like all of Mashima's other works.
UZUMAKI
Taking a look into the darker side of the manga world we have Uzumaki by Junji Ito, Theres not much I can say about this series without giving away spoilers. But to sum it up as best i can, Imagine Steven King and Wes Craven decided to sit down and write the most messed up piece of manga they could. Erie imagery with a an erie story with an erie mystery, Uzumaki will keep your head spinning.
ROSARIO + VAMPIRE
......
Um...Well...I did say i wanted to branch out as much as I could...so...yeah...Rosario+Vampire was written and illustrated by Akihisa Ikeda, its your typical harem/ecchi comedy manga/anime, which had had the idea of Monster Musume first. It follows a Human who accidently joins a high school for monsters, there he meets Moka a girl who's hot as her name is (lol) and many other monster people (but mostly girls). Check it out if you want a light hearted experience with women along the way and a lot of really creative monsters that actually aren't just made up by the author.
CIRQUE DU FREAK
Ok, ok, I AM cheating a bit here. This was originally a novel series made in america by Darren Shan that was later adapted into a manga that got rereleased in america. But it is still a manga, and a manga none the less. The story follows a boy by the name of Darren Shan, one day he encounters a peculiar circus that comes to town, here he meets a man by the name of Mr. Crepsly, a vampire. After a stealing Mr. Crepsly's spider, it bites his best friend Sam, putting him in the hospital. The only way to save him is if Darren joins Mr. Crepsly and becomes his half vampire assistant. however it doesn't end there, this story offers much more than just whats in its premise, this 12 volume series has death, monsters, blood, plot twists, and Spectacular Gothic imagery.
Well thats the list guys, hope you check 'em out, have a happy halloween and don't forget to follow, Night!
